About Us

Started in 2009 by Mark Eckerle and Matt Gollan, Goals 4 Ghana is staffed entirely by volunteers. Equipment and donations are primarily delivered to the players of Cantonments Football Club located in Accra, Ghana. The CFC coaching staff identifies and selects players who are in need of equipment and financial assistance. To read more on CFC, please visit: www.ghana-football-academy.org. With your help and contributions, Goals 4 Ghana will expand to other cities and villages in Ghana.

Our Founders

Mark Eckerle

Mark, a graduate of Loyola University, has a strong social service background, including work as a foster care case manager, mentor and a sports instructor in after school programs. Mark also volunteers his time coaching for Street Soccer USA, an organization that helps get homeless people off the streets through soccer.

Since 2005, Mark has coached soccer from the youth to collegiate level. Currently the president of Goals 4 Ghana, Mark traveled to Ghana as a volunteer soccer coach in 2008. He saw first-hand the poor living conditions of the children on his team, and the experience left him wanting to provide more to the children of Ghana. In 2009, Mark returned to Ghana when he accepted a position with Projects Abroad as technical director of the Cantonments Football Club in Accra.

Matt and Stephanie Gollan

Long time friends with Mark, Matt and Stephanie, former board members, were touched by his work in Ghana, his travel blog and stories of how soccer can reach people. They wished to become more involved and were essential in the formation of Goals 4 Ghana. They managed operations, fundraising campaigns and advertising.
